Trouble is that Bob, who was only in the National Guard and never saw any action, has inexplicably decided to throw his own barbeque in competition with the Formans. Hyde tells Jackie point blank that he's not interested, inspiring her to bring a date to the Formans' to make him jealous. This ploy causes Hyde to come to a horrifying realization about his true feelings for Jackie.
